AD&D - New World
The Westlands, also called the Goblin Kingdoms, are ruled by goblinkind — but increasingly, human settlements are moving in on the frontiers. Since goblins have long outlawed magic and persecuted those who would use it, the Westlands are a relatively untouched source of pre-disaster magical ruins and treasure. As the goblins decline in power and authority, adventurers of all stripes are going west to seek adventure.
The Westlands are varied kingdoms and unsettled territories consisting of rivers and farmland in the north, and drier desert badlands to the south. Settlers and freed (or escaped) slaves immigrate from the Middlemarsh to the east and from Hernia, the land of the strange thri-kreen, to the south. The Wild Storm, further east of Middlemarsh, leaves the Westlands relatively isolated from travelers from Gith.
